    Since he was a young boy, Dr. Jorge Alfonso exhibited the qualities of a caring, knowledgeable doctor. “I took pride in helping family members and neighbors clean, disinfect and dress their wounds,” he says. “I always derived a great sense of accomplishment by knowing that I was able to make a difference by caring for and healing them.” Dr. Alfonso enjoys spending quality off-time with his wife and son. He also participates in sports and likes to read and travel. One of his favorite places to visit is Hawaii, where he hopes to visit again one day with his family.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables and his doctorate from the Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.     Dr. Silvana Gonzalez-Reiley combines her medical expertise with empathy and compassion for her patients to deliver continuity of care. He completed his internal medicine residency and sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital.     Jose Cofino is a family nurse practitioner and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Havana in Cuba and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. He earned his master’s degree in nursing from Barry University in Miami. Prior to joining Chen, Jose was a nurse supervisor at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care where he identified physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs for terminally ill patients and their families.     Since Dr. Jennifer Castilloux was young, she’s always been interested in science. “All the complexities of the human body and pathology piqued my interest,” Dr. Castilloux says. Specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Castilloux rounds in skilled nursing facilities in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. “I chose to work with seniors because I believe they deserve a physician that will advocate for their needs, especially if they are unable to do so for themselves. I take time to make sure my patients really understand what’s going on with them and teach them about prevention so they can regain control of their health and take better care of themselves,” Dr. Castilloux adds.

    Internal medicine physician Elizabeth Vilches-Olivera earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and her doctorate from the Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Caring for senior patients is dear to Dr. Vilches-Olivera’s heart. “Seniors are a diverse group of patients, with very rich experiences,” she said. “Throughout my residency these were the patients that left an extraordinary mark and helped me grow as a physician.”

    Dr. Maria Pinto Rodriguez has always had a special bond with seniors. As a primary care physician, she strives to thank them and somehow repay them for what they have done for their families and for society. “I treat my patients with the love and dedication they deserve and let them know how they impact my life,” says Dr. Rodriguez. “My goal is to keep them as healthy as possible so they are able to enjoy their families and friends.” Dr. Rodriguez and her husband have a daughter. When Dr. Rodriguez isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She would like to visit the Holy Land; she sees it as a place for personal reflection and for many cultures and backgrounds to be united.

    Since childhood, Dr. Jessica M. Montes was taught to respect elders. That grew into full-on advocacy when she became a geriatric physician. “At times, the senior population tends to be overlooked, which makes it even more important to focus on their well-being and health,” Dr. Montes shares. “For me, it’s an honor and privilege to provide the best care possible and work with them to improve quality of life.” When not caring for patients or keeping up with the latest research, Dr. Montes loves to spend time with family and friends, go out to eat, watch movies, attend local events, visit the beach and travel. While Paris, France, tops her favorites, she hopes to one day visit Maldives, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Morocco, Iceland and Japan.

    Doctor Erika Cox is double board certified in family medicine, and integrative and holistic medicine. She earned her medical degree at Central University of Venezuela, Luis Razetti Medical School, in Caracas, Venezuela, and completed her family practice residency at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, California. She also completed a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. “I love caring for people and helping them live the best life they can,” says Dr. Cox. “I focus on prevention so my patients can have a good quality of life.” When she is not working, Dr. Cox likes spending time with her husband and their two daughters, walking in nature and practicing yoga. Focusing on their health is especially rewarding for her. “I enjoy connecting with my patients and giving them the opportunity to tell me everything they need,” says Dr. Lam Hernandez, who is board certified in both family medicine and sleep medicine. “I also try to explain things in a simple way and inspire lifestyle changes for better health and prevention.” Aside from work and medical research, Dr. Lam Hernandez likes to spend time with her husband and kids, do craft projects, dance, go to the beach, and travel to experience different cultures. One of her favorite destinations is the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Lafaurie enjoys quality time with his wife and son, playing sports and traveling. Once day, he would love to visit Morocco.

    It was a childhood dream of Dr. Reynier Pomares Castillo to become a physician. “I love to help people and make them feel comfortable, healthy, and happy,” he says. He places emphasis on preventative and value-based care. Dr. Castillo loves serving the senior population. “I love advocating for them,” he says. He views his patients as family, rather than merely patients. “In my opinion, with communication and empathy, you can build trust. This is the key to creating a solid relationship with our patients,” he says. In his free time, Dr. Castillo loves taking road trips with his family. One day, he wants to drive coast to coast. He also enjoys playing chess and is a member of the United States Chess Federation.
